Shares of Marico Limited were marginally in the red on Tuesday but drew active midday interest on the bourses, a day after the FMCG major filed two disclosures, a pre-quarter business update and a significant acquisition in the direct-to-consumer nutrition brand Plix.

At 12.27 pm on the NSE, Marico (MARICO) was quoted at ₹789.00, down ₹1.00 or 0.13 per cent from its previous close of ₹790.00. The stock opened at ₹796.95, touching its intraday high at the open, before slipping to a low of ₹784.50. Traded volume stood at 5.95 lakh shares worth ₹46.87 crore by midday, with buy orders accounting for 55.39 per cent of the total order flow. Deliverable quantity was 64.08 per cent of traded volume, pointing to relatively firm underlying conviction in the counter. The stock’s total market capitalisation stood at ₹1,02,345.56 crore.

Marico increased its aggregate stake in Satiya Nutraceuticals, owner of plant-based brand Plix, from 60 per cent to 84.09 per cent on a fully diluted basis. The company paid ₹1,012.03 crore for the current tranche of 24.09 per cent, taking the total consideration for the 84.09 per cent stake to ₹1,392.07 crore. A residual 14.09 per cent stake is expected to be acquired in July 2027 for a base consideration of up to ₹592 crore, plus performance-linked payouts.

Monday’s Q2 FY27 pre-quarter update also provided positive cues. Consolidated revenue is expected to grow in double digits, with Parachute Coconut Oil posting early-teens volume growth and value-added hair oils growing in the twenties for the sixth straight quarter. International business delivered constant-currency growth in the teens. Operating profit is expected to expand in the mid-twenties year-on-year.

Street views, however, remain divided. HSBC maintained a Buy with a target price of ₹1,020, while CLSA holds an Underperform with a ₹703 target on valuation concerns. JM Financial retained its Buy but trimmed the target to ₹940 from ₹1,015, citing sector-wide PE derating. The stock’s 52-week high of ₹889.10 was hit on July 30, 2026, against a low of ₹703.95 recorded a year ago.
