Benchmark stock market indices tumbled sharply on Friday after Israel launched military attacks against Iran, escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The BSE Sensex was down 1121.35 points to 80,570.63 at 9:16 am, while the NSE Nifty50 tumbled 334.65 points to trade at 24,553.55.
Most of the broader market indices also fell sharply, extending losses after ending lower yesterday. Volatility also jumped sharply in early trade, signalling a choppy session ahead.
