The registration process is straightforward and linked to your PAN. You begin by visiting the e-filing website and choosing the ‘Register’ option. Once you enter your PAN, you will be asked to provide basic details such as your name, date of birth, gender and residential status.

After this, you add your contact information, including your mobile number, email ID and address.

To verify your details, you will receive separate one-time passwords (OTPs) on your mobile and email. After entering these, you can set a password of your choice and create a personalised message for your account. The process ends with confirmation of your registration. From there, you can log in and start filing your return.
