Investor sentiment has been further bolstered by the recent lending reforms. Market experts also point to optimistic business updates from companies ahead of the September-quarter earnings season as a contributing factor to the market’s rally.
traded 426.82 pts or 0.52 per cent higher at 82,216.94 at 1.22 pm against the previous close of 81,790.12. climbed 115.75 pts or 0.46 per cent to 25,193.40 ( after hitting an intraday high of 25,202.20) against the previous close of 25,077.65.
Nifty midcap 100 and smallcap indices traded with 0.46 per cent and 0.39 per cent gains, respectively. On the sectoral front, all indexes except media, FMCG, PSU Bank and IT, traded in the positive territory.
Top gainers & losers today
Nifty 50 components Jio Financial Services, Bharti Airtel, Eicher Motors, HDFC Bank and HCL Tech led the gainers, while Trent, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, HDFC Life, Tata Consumer Products and Hindalco traded as major laggards.
About 3,087 stocks were traded on the National Stock Exchange, of which 1,407 advanced, 1,573 declined, and 107 remained unchanged. 96 stocks, including Aether Energy, Avalon and Canara Bank, hit their 52-week high, while 71 stocks, including EaseMyTrip, touched their 52-week low.
In addition, 95 stocks were in the upper circuit and 53 stocks in the lower circuit.
Midcap & smallcap movers
Under the midcap segment, Vodafone Idea, IGL, Nykaa, Torrent Power, Bharti Hexacom and Federal Bank soared 3-7 per cent. Coromandel International, HDFC AMC, BDL, LIC Housing Finance and Fortis Healthcare declined 1-2 per cent.
Smallcap stocks BLS International, Aditya Birla Real Estate, Star Health, CDSL, Neuland Lab surged 3-5 per cent, while Shyam Metalics, Aegis Logistics, Aegis Vopak, Lal Path Labs depreciated 2-3 per cent.
