Following an intraday drop of over 600 points, recovered to trade with modest gains at 81,954.62 by 1.26 pm. stood at 25,104.35 after dipping to an intraday low of 25,008.50.
Midcap and smallcap indices dipped by 0.28 per cent and 0.32 per cent, respectively.
On the sectoral front, IT and consumer durables boosted market sentiment with gains of 1-2 per cent.Most other indices remained in negative territory, led by realty, which fell 1 per cent. Metal stocks traded with modest gains.
Top gainers & losers today
Nifty 50 components Titan, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra and HCL Tech emerged as top gainers, while UltraTech Cement, M&M, Tata Motors, NTPC and Jio Financial dragged the most.
Nearly 1,283 stocks advanced, 1,723 declined and 106 remained unchanged of all the 3,112 stocks that were traded on the National Stock Exchange.
Ather Energy, Hero Motocorp, Inox Green, and MRF were among the 85 stocks that zoomed to hit their 52-week high and 80 stocks, including Capacit’e Infraprojects, hit their 52-week low. About 87 stocks (including Ramco Systems) were locked in the upper circuit and 37 stocks hit the lower circuit.
Mid-cap stocks National Aluminium, 360 One WAM, SBI Card, Coforge and KEI International gained 2-4 per cent, while Oberoi Realty, RVNL, Waaree Energies, ITC Hotels and Bharti Hexacom depreciated by 2 per cent.
Under the smallcap segment, Aster DM Healthcare, IFCI, Karur Vysya Bank, Affle, IIFL and Hindustan Copper soared 2-5 per cent, while Anant Raj, Kaynes Tech, Aegis Vopak and Poonawalla lost 304 per cent.
On the BSE, ITI, Yatharth Hospital, Graphite, Sequent Scientific and Sonata Software zoomed 6-13 per cent, while KIOCL, NLC India, Metropolis and Anant Raj declined 4-7 per cent.
