NSE, BSE shut today for Holi, global indices under pressure amid rising tensions

Equity markets are closed on Tuesday on account of the Holi festival, with trading suspended on both the National Stock Exchange and the Trading will resume on March 4, 2026.

Meanwhile, the will remain closed during the first half of the day. However, trading on the MCX will resume in the evening session from 5 pm to 11 pm today.

Domestic benchmarks witnessed a significant sell-off on Monday, March 2, as escalating military tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran triggered a global “risk-off” sentiment. BSE Sensex ended at 80,238.85 points, while the Nifty 50 ended at 24,865.70 points, down 312.95 points or 1.24 per cent.

Among the Nifty 50 pack, BEL, Hindalco, Sun Pharma emerged as top gainers, while IndiGo, Adani Ports and L&T depreciated the most.

Market participants will now closely monitor global cues and crude oil price movements when trading resumes after the Holi holiday.

Meanwhile, Asian shares mostly declined, and oil prices continued to surge on Tuesday. Trading on Wall Street remained volatile on Monday.
