Centre procures more LPG, blames misinformation for panic-buying

Government officials warned that panic bookings and hoarding are mainly triggered by misinformation. They urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading false news about LPG shortages.

India’s domestic LPG production has increased by 25% following government orders to boost output, officials said at a joint briefing by the Ministry of Shipping, Ministry of External Affairs, and Ministry of Petroleum.

Sujata Sharma, speaking at the briefing, said that LPG cargoes are on their way to India and are expected to arrive within a day or two. Currently, India imports around 60% of its LPG, with 90% of it passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

This is a developing story. It will be updated.
