Persistent Systems ties up with NVIDIA to deploy AI drug discovery platform

, today, announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to develop and deploy -powered solutions for the healthcare and life sciences (HLS) sector, with a focus on accelerating computational drug discovery.

The Pune-based IT company has built a Generative Molecules and Virtual Screening solution, branded GenMolVS, powered by NVIDIA’s BioNeMo platform and NeMo Agent Toolkit. The solution uses AI-driven molecular simulations to model the physical and chemical properties of molecules, enabling biopharma companies to conduct virtual screening and candidate prioritization before moving to physical laboratory experiments.

The announcement comes as Persistent stock traded down 2.49 per cent at ₹4,523.30 on the NSE on Monday, against a backdrop of broader weakness in the IT sector. The stock is down nearly 28 per cent year-to-date and has shed about 12.46 per cent over the past year, though it has returned over 890 per cent over five years.

Under the collaboration, Persistent will use NVIDIA AI Enterprise, NVIDIA NIM microservices, and NVIDIA accelerated compute infrastructure to deploy production-grade agentic AI applications. The company also plans to incorporate NVIDIA Nemotron open models to further develop the GenMolVS platform.

The stated goal is to compress months-long drug discovery timelines to days by running simulations that model biological and chemical behavior prior to wet laboratory work. Persistent says this reduces risk in early-stage discovery and is expected to improve success rates further down clinical development pipelines.

Ganesh Nathella, Executive Vice President and General Manager for Persistent’s HLS business, said the combination of GenMolVS with NVIDIA’s full-stack AI platform allows BioPharma clients to shift from lengthy experiments to AI-driven discovery without compromising scientific rigor. John Fanelli, Vice President of Enterprise Software at NVIDIA, said the collaboration equips biopharma firms with production-grade agentic systems for molecular simulation.

Persistent Systems employs over 26,500 people across 18 countries. The company is a constituent of the Nifty Midcap 50 and the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index.
