HIRECT names new Global Growth Chief, launches copper conductor line

Hind Rectifiers Ltd announced two developments on Monday — the appointment of Chidambaram Balakrishnan as Chief Global Growth Officer and the commercial launch of advanced copper conductors from its expanded Nashik facility.

Balakrishnan brings over three decades of experience in global business development and market expansion. He has previously served as Managing Director at Caterpillar Rail and Regional Director (South Asia) at GE Transportation. He has also held leadership positions at industry bodies, including as Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s Railway Division and Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in India’s Infrastructure Division.

Suramya Nevatia, Chairman and Managing Director of Hind Rectifiers, said, “…His rich global experience, strategic perspective, and proven execution capabilities will be instrumental in accelerating our international growth ambitions and strengthening our position in key global markets.”

The appointment follows the company’s earlier hire of Doughlas J Bailey as Global Chief Executive Officer to lead international expansion.

On the product front, HIRECT announced commercial availability of three copper conductor variants — Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC), Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (PICC), and Enameled Paper Insulated Copper Conductors (EPICC) — manufactured at its newly inaugurated plant in Sinnar, Nashik. The conductors are designed for high-power transformers, traction motors and other wound components that serve power grids, railway systems and industrial networks. The company said these products will also be exported to global markets.

Shailesh Jadav, VP Operations at HIRECT, said, “…our entire supply chain is compliant with EU Conflict Minerals Regulations and Responsible Minerals Initiative.”

HIRECT shares closed at ₹1,430.10 on NSE on Monday, down 3.93 per cent from the previous close of ₹1,488.60.
