Adani Green adds over 5 GW capacity in FY26, scales up Khavda project with BESS push

on Wednesday said it has added over 5 GW of renewable energy capacity in FY26, driven largely by rapid execution at its Khavda mega project in Gujarat, where it is also scaling up battery energy storage systems (BESS) to support grid stability.

The company commissioned 5,051 MW of capacity during the year — among the highest annual greenfield expansions globally —taking its total operational portfolio to 19.3 GW. Alongside, it brought online 1,376 MWh of BESS capacity at Khavda, marking one of the world’s largest single-location storage deployments, the company stated in an official release.

Most of the capacity addition came from the Khavda renewable energy park, a 30 GW project under development, of which 9.4 GW has already been installed. Spread across 538 sq km, the site is emerging as a key hub for ultra large-scale renewable deployment. “Our addition of over 5 GW of new capacity marks a watershed moment for India’s renewable energy sector, placing the country firmly on the global map of leading the clean energy transition,” said Sagar Adani, Executive Director of AGEL.

The capacity addition includes 3,409 MW of solar, 686 MW of wind and 956 MW of wind-solar hybrid projects. AGEL said the new capacity will help offset nearly 10 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually, taking the total annual carbon offset from its operational portfolio of 19.3 GW to about 36 million tonnes. The company said the Khavda project deploys advanced technologies such as bifacial solar modules, solar trackers and high-capacity 5.2 MW wind turbines, along with waterless robotic cleaning systems to improve efficiency and reduce resource usage.
