STT Data Centres expands power purchases partnership with Clean Max Enviro Energy

STT Global Data Centres (STT GDC) has expanded its Power Purchase Agreements with Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Limited.  

The new agreement includes an additional 21 Megawatt Peak(MWp) of solar capacity for STT GDC India’s data centres in Chennai, Tamil Nadu taking the overall partnership between the companies over 130 MegaWatt of hybrid renewable energy capacity across key data centre hubs in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. 

The partnership also included a 26 per cent equity investment from STT GDC India for contracted green energy capacity in captive mode.

Our expanding partnership with STT GDC India reflects a broader shift among leading digital infrastructure service providers to embed clean energy into their core business strategy,” Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director, Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Limited, said. 

“At STT GDC India, we take a deliberate approach to how we build, power and operate capacity for the long term, sustainable growth. Our expanded partnership with CleanMax strengthens our ability to secure renewable energy at scale, supporting the rising intensity of AI-led and high-density workloads,” Bimal Khandelwal, Chief Executive Officer, STT GDC India, said. 

The AI and data centre segment now accounts for about 42 per cent of CleanMax’s contracted capacity of 5.7 GigaWatt, representing nearly a tenfold expansion over the past two years, the company said in a media release.
