Akshayakalpa forays into Mumbai, Pune markets with ₹50-cr investment

-based dairy start-up has expanded its market presence by entering Mumbai and Pune. This marks its foray into Maharashtra after earlier expansions into Chennai and Hyderabad between 2022 and 2023, beyond its core market of Bengaluru.

The company expects to close the current fiscal year with revenues in the range of ₹550–600 crore. To support its Maharashtra entry, it is investing ₹50 crore in market infrastructure, distribution, and processing capacity.

In these new markets, Akshayakalpa will introduce its full portfolio of certified organic dairy products, including milk, ghee, curd, butter, paneer, cheese, buttermilk, and a high-protein range.

The expansion comes amid strong competition from established players such as Amul, which has a dominant presence in Maharashtra through its robust supply chain across categories such as ice cream, butter, and cheese.

Commenting on the expansion, Shashi Kumar, CEO and Founder, said the company remains focused on transparency and on creating value for farmers. Akshayakalpa currently serves over 60,000 consumers daily across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai through its direct-to-consumer platform. Its products are also available in more than 2,000 retail outlets and across e-commerce and quick-commerce channels.

Founded in 2010, it has raised $58.1 million in equity funding across 10 rounds, as per data from market intelligence firm Tracxn. Akshayakalpa currently has about 3,00,000 individuals across Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad and is growing.
