Vobiz raises $1 million seed round led by Piper Serica VC Fund

Vobiz.ai, an AI-first, API-driven telephony infrastructure platform for Voice AI products, has raised $1 million in a seed funding round led by Piper Serica VC Fund.

The capital will be deployed to strengthen the company’s engineering and go-to-market capabilities, as it works towards achieving $5 million in ARR.

Founded by Suman Gandham (ex-Finin) and Vikash Srivastava (ex-Plivo), Vobiz was born out of the founders’ experience building voice-based AI products, where they discovered that the primary bottleneck was the telecom infrastructure. The existing telecom system originally designed for human-to-human communication and call centres are now being retrofitted to support AI use cases.

Recognising the constrains, Vobiz has built a platform purpose-designed for AI-native communication. It enables developers to integrate voice capabilities in minutes. At a core technology level, Vobiz delivers low-latency call bridging optimised for AI response cycles.

Vikash Srivastava, Co-founder and CTO of Vobiz said developers glue together three or four services just to get a call working and end up with 1400–1700 ms of latency that makes the agent sound broken.

Vobiz is building AI-first telephony infrastructure for the next generation of voice and the goal is to become the default telephony partner for voice AI builders globally, he said.

Suman Gandham, Co-founder and CEO of Vobiz said most serious voice AI deployments are losing time and revenue managing fragile telecom integrations instead of improving their product.

The infrastructure tax is the real barrier to voice AI at the scale which Vobiz is trying to address, he added.

The voice AI market is expected to grow to $32.47 billion by 2030 at CAGR of 29 per cent.

Abhay Agarwal, Founder of Piper Serica said the founders of Vobiz are operators who shaped the previous generation of digital infrastructure across CPaaS and fintech.

“We back bold bets at the foundation of AI and telecom, and cannot wait to see Voice AI’s breakthrough moment, powered by Vobiz,” he said.
