Domestic gold futures increase on spot demand

Gold prices on Tuesday rose by ₹194 to ₹1,53,857 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for June delivery traded higher by ₹194, or 0.13 per cent, at ₹1,53,857 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 1,174 lots.

Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said.

Globally, gold futures fell 0.44 per cent to $4,715.16 per ounce in New York.
