Aurobindo Pharma sets up TheraNym, a dedicated biologics contract manufacturing body

Aurobindo Pharma inaugurated TheraNym, a dedicated biologics contract manufacturing organisation (CMO), marking its foray into biologics contract manufacturing.

The Hyderabad-based company hopes to harness the global potential in the biologics contract manufacturing segment as the demand for biologic therapies is on the rise.  

The TheraNym Biologics facility was formally inaugurated by D Sridhar Babu, Telangana Minister for IT, Industries & Commerce, here on Wednesday.

Designed and built to the highest international standards, the facility is positioned to serve the supply chains of leading global pharmaceutical companies,’’ Satakarni Makkapati, CEO of Biologics and Director, Aurobindo Pharma said in a release,

As the global biologics market continues its remarkable expansion, TheraNym stands ready to help bring biologic therapies to patients worldwide, reliably and more affordably than before,’’ Makkapati added. 

The facility, located in Borapatla in Sangareddy district near Hyderabad, is equipped with 15 KL bioreactors, advanced downstream processing suites, aseptic fill-finish capabilities, and quality control laboratories. The facility is intended to support MSD’s supply chain, in both domestic and export markets.

TheraNym adds meaningful capacity and capability to the MSD supply chain, helping enable compliant and reliable supply of products to patients who need them most, Dave Maraldo, Executive Vice-President and President, MSD Manufacturing Division, said.
