FD rates up to 8.10%: Check these small finance banks offering the highest returns

With global markets facing uncertainty from geopolitical tensions, many investors are once again looking for safety and stability. From the ongoing conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran to the continuing Russia-Ukraine war, economic concerns have been rising across the world. In such an environment, fixed deposits (FDs) are attracting attention for offering predictable returns without the ups and downs often seen in equity markets.

Among the prominent small finance banks, FD rates vary considerably depending on the tenure chosen. For deposits with a tenure of one to two years, Utkarsh Small Finance Bank is offering the highest interest rate of 8.10%, followed by ESAF Small Finance Bank at 7.75% and Suryoday Small Finance Bank at 7.60%.

Jana Small Finance Bank offers 7.30%, while Ujjivan Small Finance Bank and AU Small Finance Bank provide 7.40% and 7.10%, respectively. Equitas Small Finance Bank offers 6.90% for this tenure.

For deposits ranging from two to three years, Suryoday Small Finance Bank leads with an interest rate of 8.10%. ESAF Small Finance Bank follows at 7.75%, while Jana Small Finance Bank and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank offer 7.50% each. Equitas Small Finance Bank provides 7.40%, AU Small Finance Bank offers 7.25%, and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank also offers 7.25%.

In the three-to-five-year category, Suryoday Small Finance Bank again offers the highest return at 7.90%. Jana Small Finance Bank follows with 7.77%, while Ujjivan Small Finance Bank offers 7.55%. Utkarsh Small Finance Bank provides 7.25%, AU Small Finance Bank and Equitas Small Finance Bank offer 7%, and ESAF Small Finance Bank offers 6%.

Recent global events have increased market volatility and raised concerns about inflation and economic growth. For many investors, especially those nearing retirement or looking to preserve capital, fixed deposits provide a sense of certainty.

Unlike market-linked investments, FD returns are known in advance. Investors know exactly how much interest they will earn if they stay invested until maturity.

This predictability is one reason why fixed deposits remain popular despite the availability of other investment options.

In other words, the FD rates currently offered by small finance banks are among the most attractive available in the banking sector, with some touching 8.10%. For investors seeking stability amid global uncertainty, these deposits can be worth considering.

However, experts advise looking beyond the headline interest rate. Factors such as tenure, taxation, liquidity needs, deposit insurance and overall banking experience should all be evaluated before making a decision. As with any financial investment, consulting a qualified financial adviser can help ensure that the chosen option aligns with long-term financial goals.
