The inauguration of Maruti Suzuki’s Kharkhoda plant jointly by the prime ministers of India and Japan is “the greatest possible honour for Suzuki in India” and places even more responsibility on the company towards Viksit Bharat, Suzuki Motor Corporation President, Toshihiro Suzuki on Friday.
The fourth manufacturing facility of Maruti Suzuki India located at Kharkhoda in Haryana was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his visiting Japanese counterpart Sanae Takaichi on Thursday virtually at the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum here in the Capital.
“It was the greatest possible honour for Suzuki in India when both the Hon’ble Prime Ministers of India and Japan inaugurated our Kharkhoda plant yesterday,” said Suzuki, who is also Representative Director of Suzuki Motor Corporation — the parent of Maruti Suzuki India.
“This places even more responsibility on us to recommit and rededicate ourselves to Viksit Bharat. The foundation of this is human development. I immediately decided to visit today our institutes for road safety – IDTR in Bahadurgarh – and for skill development – JIM in Manesar,” he added.

Suzuki, Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi, along with senior management visited the Japan-India Institute for Manufacturing (JIM), Manesar, where they interacted with students and experienced the training ecosystem that equips young talent with industry-relevant technical expertise and Japanese manufacturing practices.
JIM is a flagship skill development initiative that offers vocational training aligned with advanced manufacturing requirements.
They also visited the Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR), Bahadurgarh, managed by Maruti Suzuki. IDTRs play a pivotal role in training individuals in safe driving.
