Parth Jindal has taken over as Chairman of JSW MG Motor India just as the automaker enters a critical expansion phase. The appointment puts the JSW Group executive formally at the helm of a business that is betting on new products, higher manufacturing capacity and deeper localisation to expand its presence in India’s passenger-vehicle market.
The board appointed Jindal Chairman with immediate effect, the company said on Monday. He has served on the board since the joint venture between JSW Group and China’s SAIC Motor was formed and has been closely involved in shaping its product strategy, manufacturing expansion and localisation programme.
The elevation gives Jindal a more prominent role in a company where electric vehicles have become central to the growth strategy. JSW MG said it has sold more than 150,000 EVs since launching its first electric vehicle in India, with the Windsor now the country’s highest-selling EV.
The company is simultaneously expanding its product portfolio and manufacturing capabilities while building a stronger local supply chain. JSW MG said the partnership combines JSW’s knowledge of the Indian market with SAIC’s global automotive expertise, with localisation and sustainable mobility among its priorities.
Jindal is Managing Director of JSW Cement and JSW Paints, Chairman of JSW Dulux and a director of JSW Energy. He is also founder of JSW Sports and Chairman and co-owner of the Delhi Capitals.
