India’s ice cream market is set to get another big name. Reliance Consumer Products, the consumer arm of billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, is preparing to enter the segment with a new brand called Bombay Creamery, reported Reuters.

The company announced on Tuesday that it will launch the ice cream brand, marking its entry into India’s growing ice cream market.

Reliance Consumer Products will launch Bombay Creamery as part of its consumer business. The new brand will compete in a market that already has several established ice cream players.

The announcement comes as the Ambani family’s businesses expand into different consumer categories.

The Reliance announcement comes a few months after Vantara, the wildlife rescue and rehabilitation initiative led by Anant Ambani, entered the premium dessert space with Vantara Creamery.

Vantara Creamery is positioned as an artisanal ice cream brand focused on Indian flavours, nostalgia and small-batch production.

The brand made its debut at Jio World Drive through an experiential ice cream truck that served customers on May 9 and 10, according to a Curly Tales report, mentioned Business Today.

Vantara Creamery launched with 17 flavours inspired by regional Indian tastes and familiar Indian desserts.

The range includes flavours such as Malai Kulfi, Guava Chilli, Filter Coffee, Lemon Sorbet and Kesar Peda.

With Reliance Consumer Products now preparing to launch Bombay Creamery, the Ambani family has two ice cream brands entering the market within a few months of each other.
