Axis Energy has secured the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for a 552 MWp utility-scale solar power project being developed by Evren, a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy, in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh.
The project is targeted for commissioning within the next 18 months and marks a significant expansion of Axis Energy’s clean energy projects, further strengthening its strategic partnership with Evren.
The solar project is part of a 400 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project, integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and connected to the State grid.
Designed to support Andhra Pradesh’s peak power demand, the project will provide renewable power during peak periods, enhancing grid reliability and supporting the State’s clean energy goals.
Axis Energy is also executing the EPC works for the project’s 640.5 MW wind component, with construction underway.
The project is backed by long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd (APSPDCL).
The integrated wind, solar and storage configuration will enable more reliable utilisation of renewable power while helping manage intermittency and meet peak-demand requirements, according to a release.
