The broking industry added around 5.12 lakh net active clients in August, according to data, with market leader Groww accounting for nearly 44 per cent of the industry’s net additions.
Groww added 2.23 lakh active clients during the month, taking its active client base from 1.3124 crore in July to 1.3347 crore in August. Its market share increased from 28.88 per cent to 29.04 per cent.
The August data shows continued concentration of active clients among leading digital brokers, with Groww maintaining its position as the largest platform.
Among the larger brokers, SBI Securities was the only one to report a decline, losing around 26,200 active clients and taking its base to 10.4 lakh.
Angel One added 85,000 active clients in August, taking its base to 67.2 lakh. Its market share stood at 14.62 per cent.
Zerodha added 35,000 clients during the month, taking its active client base to 68 lakh. Its market share stood at 14.79 per cent.
ICICI Securities added 23,000 active clients to reach 21.6 lakh, while Dhan added 20,000 clients to cross 11 lakh.
HDFC Securities added 16,000 clients, taking its active client base to 13.5 lakh. Kotak Securities and added 10,000 and 9,000 clients, respectively.
Upstox remained largely stable, adding around 4,000 active clients during August and reaching 18.7 lakh.
Overall, the industry added more than half a million active clients during August, with Groww alone contributing nearly half of the net additions and taking its market share above 29 per cent.
