Shares of surged on Wednesday morning after the company disclosed it had received a patent from the Chinese Patent Office for a compound designed to treat viral infections.
On the NSE, the stock was trading at ₹248.66 as of 10.36 AM, up ₹22.03 or 9.72 per cent from its previous close of ₹226.63. The stock hit an intraday high of ₹258.87 and a low of ₹224.00, which also marks its 52-week low, touched at the open.
Traded volume stood at 22.27 lakh shares with a traded value of ₹56.06 crore by mid-morning. The stock’s total market capitalisation was at ₹1,271.26 crore.
The company informed stock exchanges that China’s National Intellectual Property Administration had granted patent with the grant announced on September 15, 2026.
The patent, titled “Use of Compounds for Treating Viral Infections,” covers compounds that inhibit V-ATPase activity in cells, with applications in manufacturing antiviral medicaments.
The stock is a constituent of the Nifty Sugar & Ethanol index and has declined over 14 per cent in the past year ahead of today’s move.
