The All-India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC), the largest banking sector trade union organisation, will hold a crucial two-day series of high-level meetings from Wednesday in Guwahati.
These high-level meetings will bring together the nation’s top banking officer union leaders to deliberate on the future trajectory of the organisation and critical issues impacting the life and livelihoods of its vast membership, according to a statement issued by the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation.
AIBOC represents around 3.50 lakh officers across nationalised banks, old generation private sector banks, and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs).
The proceedings will commence with the 104th Executive Committee (EC) meeting of the confederation on October 29 and are scheduled to continue on the next day. In accordance with the AIBOC by-laws and rules, this session will address standard organisational agenda items, review the Statement of Accounts, and discuss organisational developments.
Additionally, the EC will receive updated information on the meetings with IBA and CLC during the interim period, the statement said.
Following the conclusion of the EC, the 2nd Working Committee Meeting will be held on Thursday. This significant congregation will be further strengthened by the inclusion of the Presidents of the respective state committees, joining all EC Members and State Secretaries. “This conglomeration of leaders from different parts of the country is tasked with formulating a robust blueprint for our organisational activities and defining the immediate future course of action for AIBOC,” it said.
A primary focus of the two-day deliberations will be the ensuing agitational programme concerning two vital issues– the demand for a five-day work week and the resolution of residual issues of the 8th Joint Note.
“As the powerful voice representing officers registered under the Trade Unions Act 1926, AIBOC remains deeply committed to safeguarding the service conditions and career progression of banking officers,” the statement added.
