Axis Asset Management Company has elevated R Sivakumar as the Chief Investment Officer with immediate effect as per the company’s internal succession plan.
In his new role, Sivakumar will drive Axis AMC’s investment strategy, provide thought leadership on new fund ideas, strengthen its research-led processes and lead Axis Mutual Fund’s investment teams in alignment with the organisation’s long-term growth aspirations.
Ashish Gupta, who served as the CIO and led the Investments team, has decided to pursue other professional and personal interests.
Sivakumar, a veteran of the asset management industry, has been associated with Axis AMC since its inception in 2009, playing a pivotal role in its growth journey to one of the largest AMCs in the country with over ₹3.75 lakh crore in assets under management.
Sivakumar served as Head of Products, Corporate Strategy, and was also overseeing the AlF investments as an additional responsibility. Prior to this role, he spent 14 years as Head – Fixed Income, leading the investment strategy in debt offerings and fixed-income space.
He holds a Bachelor of Technology from IIT Madras and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Ahmedabad.
B Gopkumar, MD & CEO, Axis AMC, said Sivakumar’s extensive experience, deep market insight and long-standing association with Axis AMC positions him to lead the MF investments team.
The elevation, further, reflects Axis MF’s commitment to strengthen focus on continuity, governance and a disciplined investment framework, he said.
