Axiscades partners with French firm Cilas for laser-based anti-drone systems

and France’s Cilas S.A. signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday to jointly develop and supply advanced counter-unmanned aerial system technologies to Indian armed forces. The partnership centers on integrating Cilas’ high-energy laser weapon system, Helma-P, into vehicle-mounted defense solutions.

Under the agreement, AXISCADES will design the overall system architecture tailored to Indian Army requirements. The collaboration involves co-developing a vehicle-mounted counter-drone solution that incorporates the Helma-P laser into AXISCADES’ command and control system.

Dr. Sampath Ravinarayanan, founder and managing director of AXISCADES, noted that Helma-P has been deployed by NATO forces, during the Paris Olympics, and by the French Navy. The company plans to locally integrate the laser system and participate in manufacturing to support India’s self-reliance initiative, Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Cilas CEO Oliver Prat said AXISCADES has established expertise in engineering within the French defense ecosystem and was among early entrants in India’s anti-drone warfare sector with significant army orders.

AXISCADES, headquartered in Bangalore, employs over 3,000 professionals across 17 global locations. The company provides technology solutions in aerospace, defense, and related sectors. Cilas, founded in 1966, specializes in laser technology for defense, security, and space applications.

The partnership represents expanded defense cooperation between India and France in advanced military technology development.

Shares of AXISCADES Technologies Limited were trading at ₹1,597.90 up by ₹49.70 or 3.21 per cent on the NSE today at 12.38 pm.
