Luxury carmaker BMW Group India on Friday launched the X1 long wheelbase (LWB) with a starting price ₹49.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
The luxury sports activity vehicle, X1 LWB is locally produced at the company’s plant in Chennai in a petrol variant, the company said.
“The BMW X1 had redefined success in the luxury SUV segment in India by consistently delivering the perfect blend of performance, versatility and premium ownership. With the new BMW X1 long wheelbase, we have taken that winning formula further,” Hardeep Singh Brar, President and Chief Executive Officer, BMW Group India said here at the launch.
He said the new X1 can also take ethanol blended petrol of up to 25 per cent (E25). The BMW TwinPower Turbo technology petrol engine melds maximum power with exemplary efficiency and offers spontaneous responsiveness even at low engine speeds, the company said.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces an increased output of 115 kW/156 hp and maximum torque of 230 Nm at 1,500-4,600 rpm. Fuel efficiency offered is 15.5 km/l, the company said.
With a length of 4,616 mm, width 2,104 mm, height 1,641 mm and wheelbase of 2,800 mm — the new X1 is not just the longest car in its segment, but also one of the most spacious 5-seater SUVs offered in India, the company added.
Meanwhile, BMW Group India also unveiled the BMW i5 long wheelbase, an all-electric sedan and opened bookings for it.
The car will be locally produced in India and will offer a range of about 669 km with 81.7kWh battery. Deliveries will start in the next three weeks and prices will also be announced around that time, the company said.
