Century Plyboards inaugurated its ₹215-crore greenfield plywood manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, on Monday, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion strategy and strengthening its manufacturing presence in North India.

The facility will commence operations with an annual production capacity of 60,000 cubic metres (CBM), with the second phase planned to scale the capacity to 1 lakh CBM within the next six months. At full capacity, the facility is expected to contribute an annual revenue of around ₹600 crore.

The facility is spread over 27 acres and has been designed to cater to the growing demand for plywood across northern and north-western markets, the Kolkata-based company said.

Closer to customers

The Hoshiarpur facility is Century Plyboards’ seventh plywood manufacturing plant in the country, adding to its existing manufacturing network across West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana and Uttarakhand. The new facility will further strengthen the company’s ability to serve key markets including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Its location offers proximity to a well-established timber and plywood ecosystem, skilled manpower and efficient connectivity to major consumption centres. The facility is expected to improve product availability, supply-chain responsiveness and delivery timelines across the region.

“The commissioning of our Hoshiarpur facility is an important step in strengthening our manufacturing presence in North India and, more importantly, in advancing our pursuit of making uncompromising plywood. For us, this is not simply about adding capacity. It is about getting closer to our customers, strengthening our supply chain and being more agile in responding to changing market needs,” said Nikita Bansal, Executive Director, Century Plyboards (India) Ltd.

The company has the flexibility to build capacity in line with market demand, Bansal said. “At the same time, the focus is on getting the fundamentals right, with technology-led processes, operational efficiency and consistent quality. I think that is what will allow Hoshiarpur to strengthen our ability to deliver plywood without compromise and support our growth in the region.”

The addition of the facility comes at a time when CenturyPly’s existing plywood manufacturing network is operating at high-capacity utilisation. The project is also expected to generate substantial economic value for the region, creating more than 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities through manufacturing operations and allied sectors.
