Classic Legends seeks to sustain growth momentum, lines up new scrambler bike in FY27

Premium motorcycle maker Classic Legends, owner of iconic brands Yezdi, Jawa and BSA, is embarking on a portfolio expansion with plans to introduce new bikes in the scrambler segment to carry forward its growth momentum.

The company, which had broken into the top ten two-wheeler makers in the country by sales by volume in February this year, is seeking to consolidate its legacy of being a leader in scrambler bikes — built for off-road and street use.

It is preparing to introduce new motorcycles in the scrambler segment as part of its upcoming portfolio expansion, people aware of the development said.

When contacted about the scrambler launch, Classic Legends Co-founder Anupam Thareja said, “The company has seen strong rider response over the past year and will continue to strengthen its portfolio with authentic classic formats.” Without elaborating details, he said, “Customers make an emotional choice when they buy our motorcycles, and we take that seriously. Our approach has been to stay consistent with design-led thinking, honest engineering and a dependable ownership experience.” The company’s brand, BSA, has a strong history of being a leader in the scrambler segment dating back to the late 1940s, when riders modified road-legal motorcycles such as BSA Gold Star singles and A10 twins to handle dirt tracks and uneven terrain.

Similarly, in India, Yezdi motorcycles were the preferred models for modifications when a rider-led culture evolved. Building on the legacy, in 2022, Yezdi brought a mainstream scrambler in the mid-sized segment, with a factory-built interpretation of the format.

The company’s plans for portfolio expansion are aimed at continuing its growth momentum. In FY26, it registered a year-on-year 39 per cent rise in volumes at 45,011 units as per VAHAN registration data.
