Gold futures increase on spot demand

Gold prices on Monday rose by ₹518 to ₹1,44,800 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for April delivery traded higher by ₹518, or 0.36 per cent, at ₹1,44,800 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 25 lots.

Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said.

Globally, gold futures rose 0.78 per cent to $4,528.23 per ounce in New York.
