InterCosmos, a space-tech startup that builds non-toxic propulsion technologies, has secured early-stage funding from IAN Angel Fund.
The investment will be utilised to accelerate the development and flight qualification of HyperX, the company’s propulsion technology which is suggested can be a safe, reliable and scalable non-toxic alternative to the traditional toxic propellants, without compromising on performance. InterCosmos, has not disclosed the total funding amount.
Founded by aerospace engineers Gokul Ravi and Aravinda Samy, the startup is headquartered in Chennai and is targeting customers such as satellite manufacturers, spacecraft developers, and mission operators.
“This investment marks a significant milestone for InterCosmos as we move towards flight-qualifying our technology and accelerating the development of HyperX. We are building next-generation, non-toxic hypergolic propulsion systems to enable safe and efficient in-space transportation, delivering reliable, high-performance propulsion across a wide range of space missions,” Gokul, Co-founder & CEO, InterCosmos, said.
The company’s vision also includes expanding beyond propulsion systems into broader in-space transportation infrastructure. This includes mobility platforms, re-entry vehicles, and interplanetary systems built on its HyperX technology platform, it said in a media release.
