JSW Cement expands eastern footprint with Sambalpur unit 

has commissioned a new grinding unit in Sambalpur, , through its majority-owned subsidiary Shiva Cement, raising the company’s total installed capacity to 21.6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). The facility, with a capacity of 1.0 MTPA, operates under a commercial arrangement with Bhushan Power and Steel Limited.

The expansion is part of JSW Cement’s strategy to strengthen its presence in eastern India, a region the company views as positioned for significant growth. Shiva Cement’s manufacturing facility is strategically located at the border of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, providing proximity to raw materials.

JSW Cement CEO Nilesh Narwekar said the facility marks a milestone in the company’s efforts to expand in the eastern market, particularly as Odisha plays a key role in regional industrial growth.

The company is pursuing an expansion programme targeting 41.85 MTPA of grinding capacity and 13.04 MTPA of clinker capacity across India. An integrated unit in Nagaur, Rajasthan, comprising 3.30 MTPA clinker capacity and 3.5 MTPA grinding capacity, is expected to commission as planned.

JSW Cement, part of the $23 billion JSW Group, listed on and in August 2025. The company maintains the lowest carbon dioxide emission intensity in the industry at 277 kg CO2 per ton of cementitious materials in Q1 FY26.

The shares of JSW Cement Limited were trading at ₹138.95 down by ₹0.79 or 0.57 per cent on the NSE today at 1.55 pm.
