Tata Projects, the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) arm of the Tata Group, announced on Tuesday that it has won a significant contract to construct a greenfield plant for an unnamed global automotive company in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. The project spans three major packages—the assembly shop, the press and weld shop, and auxiliary utility and support buildings. According to Tata Projects, the scope of work includes civil, structural, and architectural construction, along with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, utility networks, testing, commissioning, and final handover.
The company highlighted that the integrated project demands seamless coordination across various engineering sectors and construction phases to successfully align the core production spaces with the surrounding supporting infrastructure. This contract serves as a key milestone for Tata Projects as it broadens its reach within the automotive domain, reinforcing its standing as a trusted contractor for complex industrial builds. The project is expected to engage several specialized disciplines alongside a wide network of suppliers and partners.
We have partnered with a leading global automotive manufacturer in creating a facility that will contribute to this journey, said Rajiv Menon, President & Chief Growth & Strategy Officer at Tata Projects. He further noted that the contract is a vital move toward expanding the firm's footprint in advanced manufacturing, emphasizing that Tata Projects will leverage its full integrated engineering and execution expertise for the venture.
This deal complements Tata Projects' rising credentials in advanced manufacturing infrastructure, adding to its existing portfolio of technology-intensive projects such as semiconductor manufacturing facilities, battery plants, and data centers.
