The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has appointed Injeti Srinivas, former chairman of the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), as the new chairman of its governing board, effective Tuesday.
The exchange has not had a chairman since the former chairman Girish Chandra Chaturvedi’s term ended November last year. The delay in appointment of a chairman was one of the concerns raised by the market regulator regarding NSE’s much-awaited initial public offering (IPO).
Srinivas, who is a 1983-batch IAS officer from the Odisha cadre, joined the NSE board last week as a public interest director. He has previously served as Corporate Affairs Secretary and was the founding head of IFSCA, where he led key reforms in governance, policy and market regulation.
With over 40 years of experience in corporate law, financial regulation, industrial promotion, insolvency law and public policy, Srinivas has served on the boards of SEBI and LIC, and was a member of the Financial Stability and Development Council between 2017 and 2023.
