Sensex gains over 500 pts, Nifty above 26,100 level, Shriram Finance, Wipro, Infosys lead gainers

Equity indices soared on Monday as investor sentiment turned upbeat amid renewed foreign fund inflows, a firmer rupee, and positive global market cues. The rally was further supported by broad-based sector gains, particularly in financials and IT stocks, which collectively boosted confidence across Dalal Street.

Both the benchmark indices traded near day’s high. Sensex traded 536.16 pts or 0.63 per cent higher at 85,465.52 at 1.16 pm, and Nifty 50 increased by 179.30 pts or 0.69 per cent to 26,145.70.

Smallcap outperformed the midcap index with 1.10 per cent uptick. All sectoral indices except realty traded in the positive territory. IT and metal indices rose close to 2 per cent.

Market breadth remained firmly positive, reflecting strong investor participation across counters. Of the 3,173 stocks traded, 2,269 advanced, while 801 declined and 103 remained unchanged, underscoring the bullish undertone.

Shriram Finance, Wipro, Infosys lead Nifty 50 gainers

Shriram Finance, Wipro, Infosys, Bharti Airtel and Hindalco led the gainers of Nifty 50, while State Bank of India, HDFC Life, Tata Consumer Products, SBI Life and Kotak Mahindra Bank dipped the most.

Momentum was evident as 82 stocks (such as MCX, TVS Motor, RR Kabel and Laurus Labs), touched their 52-week highs, compared with 45 hitting 52-week lows (featuring Epigral). Nearly 78 stocks locked in upper circuits, significantly outnumbering the 38 stocks in lower circuits.



Midcap & smallcap movers

Under the midcap index, Cochin Shipyard and National Aluminium zoomed 5-6 per cent. SAIL, RVNL, KEI Industries and UPL soared 3-4 per cent. Meanwhile, Swiggy, Vishal Mega Mart, Hero Motocorp, Prestige Estate and Dixon declined a little over 1 per cent.

Smallcap stock JWL rallied 14 per cent, GRSE, Hindustan Copper, KEC International and MCX soared 5 per cent. Reliance Power dragged 7 per cent, while Five Star Business, Neuland Lab, Firstcry and Aegis Vopak fell up to 2 per cent.
