Sensex, Nifty hold morning gains at mid-day despite mixed sectoral performance 

Benchmark indices maintained their modest gains at mid-day on Tuesday, with the trading at 80,469.92, up 104.98 points or 0.13 per cent from its previous close of 80,364.94, while the 50 stood at 24,671.40, gaining 36.50 points or 0.15 per cent from Monday’s close of 24,634.90 as of 1.15 pm.

The Sensex opened at 80,541.77, while the Nifty opened at 24,691.95, building on the marginal gains seen at the opening bell. Market breadth on the BSE remained negative with 2,037 stocks declining against 1,894 advancing out of 4,113 stocks traded, while 182 remained unchanged.

led the gainers on the Nifty 50, rising 2.20 per cent to ₹1,146.90, followed by which gained 1.42 per cent to ₹12,212.00. Hindalco advanced 1.35 per cent to ₹764.00, while Bharat Electronics Limited added 1.16 per cent to ₹404.60. Adani Ports rounded out the top gainers with a 1.11 per cent increase to ₹1,398.50.

On the losing side, InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) topped the losers list, falling 1.88 per cent to ₹5,599.50. ITC declined 1.22 per cent to ₹402.30, while Titan Company dropped 0.98 per cent to ₹3,367.90. Bajaj Finserv shed 0.80 per cent to ₹2,008.50, and Larsen & Toubro fell 0.66 per cent to ₹3,664.00.

Sectoral indices showed divergent trends, with Nifty Bank performing strongly with a gain of 273.50 points or 0.50 per cent to 54,660.20, and Nifty Financial Services rising 52.75 points or 0.20 per cent to 26,070.45. However, Nifty Midcap 100 declined 128.90 points or 0.23 per cent to 56,559.75, while Nifty Next 50 fell 86.80 points or 0.13 per cent to 67,896.50.

Market volatility remained evident with 131 stocks hitting 52-week highs while 127 touched 52-week lows. Additionally, 190 stocks were locked in upper circuit while 173 hit lower circuit limits.



Trading continues amid sustained foreign institutional investor outflows and ahead of the Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy decision expected later this week.
