Stellantis India plans to invest Rs 4,000 crore in the country over the next three years as it prepares to launch 12 models across Citroen and Jeep brands under its FaSTLAne 2030 roadmap, the automaker’s MD and CEO Shailesh Hazela said on Thursday.

In an interview to PTI, Hazela shared that the company looks to triple its domestic sales volumes across the brands by 2030.

“Over the next three years, Jeep and Citroen will introduce 12 models, which will have seven new and five refreshed ones with the first launch out of these happening in second quarter (Apr-Jun) of calendar year 2027,” Hazela said.

“This will be supported by fresh investment of close to Rs 4,000 crore, which takes our overall investment in India close to Rs 15,000 crore. The investment will be mainly in product, in localisation and in customer experience,” he said.

The investment and new launches are part of Stellantis India’s FaSTLAne 2030 roadmap.

Seven new models across Jeep and Citroen

Jeep brand currently has four models in India – Compass, Wrangler, Meridian and Grand Cherokee while Citroen also has four models – C3, BasaltX, AircrossX, C5 Aircross. Of the seven new products planned, Jeep brand will get four new models – one SUV each in B, C and D segment along with a D segment pickup. Citroen will get three new models – one C segment SUV, D segment MPV and one A segment car.

“Our ambition with this roadmap is to grow our domestic sales to 3x whatever we are doing today,” Hazela said, adding that the target covers both Jeep and Citroen. These launches will also include CNG, hybrid and battery electric vehicles.

“We will be having ICE, including factory-fitted CNG, hybrid, and pure electric vehicle for sure,” Hazela said. Currently, Citroen offers one electric model – e-C3X. He did not disclose further launch timelines for the models.

Localisation push to improve competitiveness

Meanwhile, the automaker plans to increase localisation of its vehicles to become more competitive in the market. Citroen models currently have localisation levels of around 90-95 per cent, depending on the product, while Jeep’s localisation stands at about 70-75 per cent.

“We are working on foundation which is local engineering and local supply chain to get into localisation of 90 per cent plus of what we produce here…Citron we are already between 90-95 per cent depending upon the product. Jeep is where the new model will have similar numbers but that is one of the learning for us when it comes to Jeep,” he said.

India manufacturing and exports in focus

Stellantis currently operates three manufacturing facilities in India – at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra and Thiruvallur and Hosur in Tamil Nadu – alongside engineering and software capabilities in Bengaluru, an ICT presence in Hyderabad and a growing domestic supplier ecosystem.

Under FaSTLAne 2030, India-developed vehicles are planned for export as part of the Group’s Asia-Pacific strategy, serving both domestic and international markets.

Tata Motors partnership to expand

Stellantis has a long-standing partnership with Tata Motors for manufacturing through a 50:50 joint venture. Recently, the automaker signed a definitive agreement with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and its subsidiary Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd to expand the scope of their partnership into advanced technology and product collaboration.

Under the agreement, both the companies will collaborate to develop vehicles for more than ‌50 global markets and manufacture them in India at Fiat India Automobiles Private Ltd, the 50:50 joint venture between Tata Motors PV and Stellantis.

Dealership network expansion

On the dealership front, Hazela said Stellantis currently has a network of over 300 centres with around 80 per cent of its selling both Jeep and Citroen brands. He noted that the company is looking to expanding its network further, with more focus in tier 2, tier 3 and tier 4 cities.
