Amid rising tensions linked to the ongoing conflict, US President Donald Trump has issued a warning. He said that any country supplying military weapons to Iran could face steep tariffs on exports to the United States.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said such countries would be “immediately tariffed” at 50% on all goods sold to the US. He added that there would be “no exclusions or exemptions”, signalling a hardline stance.
He wrote, “A Country supplying Military Weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions! President DJT.”
The statement comes at a time when global geopolitical risks are already high, especially in West Asia. Any move to impose such tariffs could have wider implications for global trade and diplomatic ties. If implemented, such a measure could impact trade flows and increase tensions between major economies.
For now, markets and policymakers are likely to watch closely to see how the situation develops and whether this warning turns into concrete action.
