Waaree Energies becomes first Indian solar panel manufacturer to hit 1 GW monthly output

Waaree Energies Ltd has become the first solar panel manufacturer in India to produce over 1 GW of solar modules in a single month, achieving this milestone in November 2025. The Mumbai-based company announced the record on Wednesday, marking a significant development for India’s solar manufacturing sector.

The achievement was enabled by the company’s fully automated, vertically integrated manufacturing facilities and advanced production lines operating round-the-clock. Waaree currently has domestic capacity of 19.7 GW and 2.6 GW capacity in the US, taking the total to 22.3GW globally.

Executive Director Sunil Rathi said the milestone reflects the company’s technological capabilities and customer confidence as India works toward its renewable energy target of 500 GW. He emphasised that Waaree will continue driving innovation and scale in the sector.

The monthly output figure represents what many manufacturers take considerably longer to produce, setting a new operational benchmark for the industry. Waaree’s breakthrough is expected to strengthen confidence in Indian-made solar technology and support the country’s push toward self-reliance in renewable energy manufacturing.

Founded in 1990, Waaree operates manufacturing facilities with approximately 16.7 GW of solar PV module capacity worldwide and 5.4 GW of solar cell capacity. The company has operations across India and over 25 countries, offering products ranging from solar panels and inverters to green hydrogen solutions and battery storage systems.
