Will the new Income Tax website make filing returns simpler for you?

The Income Tax Department has taken On April 2, it launched a new platform called ‘Kar Saathi’, an AI-assisted website designed to help taxpayers navigate income tax processes with ease.

The new website brings together all income tax-related information in one place. According to the department, it is easier to navigate, faster to use, and built to reduce confusion for taxpayers who often struggle with forms, rules and procedures.

In a post shared on X on April 2, the Income Tax Department wrote, “The New Income Tax website is here. Simpler to navigate and faster to use. One place to access all Income Tax related information. Meet Kar Saathi, your AI companion to help make your Direct Tax related journeys easier.”



Kar Saathi is essentially a digital assistant built into the new website. It is designed to answer queries, guide users step-by-step and make processes like filing returns or understanding tax rules more straightforward.

The aim is to make tax compliance less stressful, especially for individuals who are not familiar with technical tax language or online systems.

The launch of the platform comes alongside a major change in India’s tax system. From April 1, 2026, the new Income-tax Act, 2025 has come into force.

“From 1 April 2026, the Income-tax Act, 2025 comes into force, ushering in a simpler, clearer and more reader-friendly direct tax framework,” posted the Income Tax Department on X.

With updated rules and simplified forms already notified, officials say this marks a fresh phase in India’s direct tax system and aligns with the broader goal of building a more efficient and modern economy.
