ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. achieved a 4-year high market share of 18.2 per cent in linear TV led by high demand in the southern states of India.
A total of eight channels from Z’s portfolio took the number 1 leadership position across genres like general entertainment, movies and lifestyle. Its flagship Hindi general entertainment channel Zee TV received significant gains with a 3-year high market share of around 15 per cent in July while Zee Cinema became the number one Hindi Movie channel.
However, Z’s real growth can be seen in the southern region of India with a share of 17.2 per cent of FY26 YTD, nearly 3 per cent higher than FY22. Zee Kannada maintained its leadership position in Kannada general entertainment with an all-time high share of 44 per cent, following the launch of shows like ‘Karna,’ ‘Lakshmi Nivasa,’ among others. Zee Tamil also achieved a high share in the Tamil GEC genre, due to its new show launch ‘Ayali’ and popular shows like ‘Karthigai Deepam’ and ‘Anna.’
Zee Telugu remains the biggest channel in Hyderabad across all genres and clocked an 18.1 TVR, for the World Television Premiere of ‘Sankranthiki Vasthunam,’ making it the biggest premiere in Telugu over 2 years.
In other language markets, Zee Sarthak continued with its position as the top GEC channel in the Odia market for the fifth year in a row, while Zee Talkies was the top choice in Marathi Movies channel for six years in a row. The company has also witnessed steady gains in the Marathi market with a fresh content slate enabling Zee Marathi to become the fastest growing Marathi GEC with its relative share increasing by 10 per cent over the last 2 years.
Speaking about the success, Raghavendra Hunsur, Chief Content Officer, ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. said, “From Hindi shows like ‘Tumm Se Tumm Tak’ to language offerings like ‘Karna’, ‘Karthigai Deepam’ and ‘Parineeta’, our content is setting new benchmarks across the country.”
Z also introduced two new entertainment channels, including Zee Power in Kannada and Zee Bangla Sonar.
In an earlier interaction with businessline, Ashish Sehgal, Chief Growth Officer at ZEEL, said that television can bring back family viewing. He dsecribed TV’s real power to lie in creating stories that bring families together in front of the same screen and talked about the company’s plans to continue building and strengthening the linear TV ecosystem.
