Indian delegation to visit US from April 20 as trade talks resume

India and the United States are set to revive face-to-face trade negotiations later this month, the Commerce Secretary said, according to sources.

An Indian delegation led by the chief negotiator will visit the US from April 20. This will be the first in-person meeting between the two sides in about three to four months. The two sides had continued discussions virtually during this period.

At the same time, Donald Trump has said oil prices could fall sharply once the Iran conflict comes to an end.

In an interview with Maria Bartiromo of Fox News, Trump said current oil prices, which are around USD 92 per barrel, may see a “very big” drop after the war is over. He also expressed confidence that the situation could be resolved soon.

Trump added that fuel prices in the US, currently a little above USD 4 per gallon, are likely to become “much lower” by the time of the elections.

With trade talks set to resume and global oil prices in focus, the next few weeks could be important. Both developments may have a wider impact on markets and economic sentiment.
