Shares of India’s Adani group
companies rose between 0.5 per cent and 3.5 per cent on Friday, after media
reports that the US Justice Department was close to dropping
criminal fraud charges against billionaire Gautam Adani.
Adani on Thursday also resolved a related civil fraud
lawsuit brought by the US Securities and Exchange Commission,
over an alleged scheme to bribe Indian government officials,
subject to court approval.
Shares of the group’s flagship, Adani Enterprises,
rose as much as 3.2 per cent in pre-open trade but came off to trade
1.6 per cent higher at ₹2,756.
