Amazon to scale ‘Amazon Now’ to 100 cities, 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres

Amazon on Monday said it will expand its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, to 100 cities across India, significantly ramping up its quick commerce footprint as competition intensifies in the segment.

The company plans to scale its specialised fulfilment infrastructure to over 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres (MFCs) to support the rollout. The service will be extended to a mix of metro and non-metro cities including Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Meerut, Mysuru, Panipat, Kochi, Amritsar, Mangaluru and Visakhapatnam, in addition to existing markets such as Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru.

Amazon Now offers a curated range of thousands of daily essentials—including groceries, fresh produce, frozen foods, personal care items, beauty and fashion products, small appliances, baby products, pet supplies and healthcare supplements—delivered within minutes.

“Customers continue to enjoy Amazon Now, appreciating our delivery speed, value and selection—especially the quality of fresh produce sourced directly from farmers,” said Harsh Goyal, Vice President, Everyday Essentials, Amazon India. “Encouraged by this success, we have accelerated our expansion plans and will scale Amazon Now to 100 cities, supported by a network of over 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres.”

Goyal added that the expansion will enable more than 16,000 farmers to leverage Amazon’s technology and operations network to sell directly to customers via sellers on the platform.

The rapid scale-up is part of Amazon’s previously announced investment of over ₹2,800 crore (around $300 million) aimed at strengthening its operations network, with a focus on associate safety, health and financial wellbeing.

Customers can check the availability of Amazon Now in their area through the Amazon.in app by accessing the ‘Now’ icon on the homepage.
