Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were increased by 5.46% on Tuesday, September 1, while the price of commercial LPG cylinders used by hotels, restaurants and other establishments was also raised, in line with changes in international benchmark prices.
The price of ATF, or jet fuel, for domestic airlines was increased by Rs 6.28 per litre to Rs 121.28 per litre, from Rs 115, according to state-owned oil marketing companies. This is the second consecutive monthly increase in ATF prices, following a Rs 5 per litre hike in August.
Meanwhile, Indian Oil Corporation increased the price of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders across major cities from September 1.
In Delhi, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was increased by around Rs 9.50 to Rs 2,747.50. In Mumbai, the revised price stands at Rs 2,701, while in Chennai it is Rs 2,916.50.
Kolkata saw the steepest increase among the cities listed, with the price rising by Rs 11.50 to Rs 2,884 per 19-kg cylinder.
In Bengaluru, the price increased by Rs 10 to Rs 2,831, while Thiruvananthapuram also saw a Rs 10 increase, taking the price to Rs 2,784.
Commercial LPG prices in Bhubaneswar and Hyderabad rose by Rs 11 to Rs 2,919 and Rs 2,996, respectively. In Patna, the price of a 19-kg cylinder remains above the Rs 3,000 mark, rising to Rs 3,029 after the latest hike.
In a relief for households, oil marketing companies have not increased the price of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders.
The latest changes therefore primarily affect commercial establishments that use larger LPG cylinders, including hotels, restaurants and other businesses.
The price of 5-kg FTL non-domestic LPG refills was also increased by Rs 2, from Rs 762 to Rs 764, effective September 1.
The ATF price increase, meanwhile, comes after the fuel had already become costlier by Rs 5 per litre from August 1, adding to the fuel-cost burden for domestic airlines.
