Bosch sees strong order visibility as it bets on safety with Chassis acquisition

Bosch Limited is seeing strong demand visibility in India, with a “very full” order book even as it moves to strengthen its play in vehicle safety through a key acquisition.

The company recently announced the acquisition of Bosch Chassis Systems India Pvt Ltd, the market leader in safety and braking systems, with three manufacturing locations, including a large plant in Chakan and a workforce of about 2,000.

Against this backdrop, the management said in its Group meeting said that demand remains robust across segments. “Our order book is very, very full… we have not lost any orders so far,” referring to the combined strength of the portfolio, particularly in safety and braking systems.

The strong order visibility comes as safety transitions from a regulatory requirement to a key purchase driver. “Safety is becoming more of a selling feature rather than a legislative feature,” highlighting how automakers are increasingly using advanced safety systems to differentiate products.

The acquisition aims to consolidate Bosch’s mobility portfolio by combining complementary capabilities in powertrain and vehicle motion systems. “Putting these two together now makes it a holistic mobility company,” the company said.

India continues to be a core growth market, with demand strong enough to absorb most of the output. “Right now, they are struggling to meet the demands of the Indian market,” the management said, indicating sustained domestic momentum.

While electric vehicles are expected to drive higher value per vehicle over time, Bosch indicated that growth will be anchored by safety, regulation, and feature upgrades in the near term.
