bp CEO Meg O’Neill met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday with the oil and gas major discussing upcoming investments and participation in Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) rounds.
“It was an absolute honour to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. We had the pleasure of updating him on bp’s exciting progress in India’s energy sector, including our oil and gas assets on the east coast with @RIL_Updates, which contributes a third of India’s natural gas,” Neill said on X.
The discussion included the technical partnership with state-run ONGC to enhance production from Mumbai High and Western offshore.
“The Prime Minister’s support for bp as a key energy partner is truly cherished. bp remains wholeheartedly committed to India with upcoming investments and participation in OALP rounds, aligning with his inspiring vision of Viksit Bharat. Go India!,” she added.
Neill also met with Puri.
“bp has a comprehensive engagement and key strategic partnership with India across the energy value chain and is actively participating in exploration of hydrocarbons under OALP Round-10,” the Minister said on X.
Indian PSUs have also partnered with bp for E&P investments across the globe and are now collaborating in retail, natural gas, and compressed biogas which are important areas that are integral to India’s journey towards achieving energy security, he added.
“Also witnessed the exchange of Framework for Strategic Cooperation Document between bp and India’s energy Maharatna @ONGC,” Puri said.
