Carlyle-backed beauty and wellness company VLCC has raised ₹110 crore from BlackSoil Capital as it looks to expand its product portfolio, store network and businesses across beauty, wellness and personal care.
The fresh financing comes as VLCC looks to build on its traditional beauty and wellness services while expanding into newer categories and digital-first brands. The company operates across beauty and wellness services, vocational training and personal care products, with a presence across India, South Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Deepak Taluja, CEO, VLCC, said the financing would enable the company to pursue its growth plans across businesses, including new product introductions and expansion of its store network.
VLCC has also been looking to grow through acquisitions. In 2023, the company acquired men’s grooming brand Ustraa, marking its entry into a segment beyond its traditional beauty and wellness portfolio. In an earlier conversation with businessline, it said it is exploring similar acquisitions to strengthen its presence in digital-first wellness and grooming brands.
Founded in 1989 by Vandana and Mukesh Luthra, VLCC was acquired by private equity major Carlyle in 2023. Carlyle had outlined plans to accelerate VLCC’s growth through product expansion, e-commerce and digital channels, expansion of its clinic network and acquisitions.
VLCC currently has a presence across more than 250 locations in over 130 cities. Its businesses span beauty and wellness services, personal care products and vocational training.
