Copra prices in Tamil Nadu’s key Anaimalai market are expected to rule around ₹145-150 a kg in October, supported by increased demand during the ensuing festival season, according to an analysis by the Domestic and Export Market Intelligence Cell (DEMIC) of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University’s Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS).

DEMIC analysed 25 years of copra price data from Anaimalai and conducted a market survey to arrive at the price outlook. Based on the analysis and feedback from traders, it expects good-quality copra to fetch ₹145-150 a kg during October.

Festival demand

“According to the trade sources, ensuing festival occasions firm up the demand for copra,” DEMIC said, advising farmers to take their selling decisions accordingly.
