Corona Remedies inaugurates women’s hormone manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad

-based pharmaceutical company on Tuesday said it has inaugurated and commercialised a dedicated EU-GMP approved women’s hormone manufacturing facility at Bhayla near

The one lakh square feet facility was inaugurated by chairman Dr K L Mehta along with long-serving women employees of the company.

The move symbolised the company’s focus on women’s healthcare and the contribution of women to its growth. Corona Remedies also stated in a regulatory filing with the exchanges that the new plant is designed to serve both domestic and international markets.

The commissioning of the Bhayla facility also completes a previously reported strategic shift in Corona Remedies’ manufacturing base.

The had reported in November 2024 that the company planned to relocate its female hormone product manufacturing operations from Solan in Himachal Pradesh to Gujarat, as part of a broader expansion and consolidation strategy.

Unlike conventional pharmaceutical plants, the facility has been built with complete segregation of manufacturing operations, precision environmental controls, specialised containment technologies and dedicated systems for handling potent hormone active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

The integrated manufacturing unit will produce multiple dosage forms—including tablets, soft gel capsules, ointments and gels—within a single manufacturing ecosystem.

The facility has an annual production capacity of 194 million tablets and capsules and 1.5 million ointments and gels. With the commissioning of the plant, Corona Remedies expects its in-house hormone manufacturing capacity to increase by nearly 20 per cent.

The company said the plant incorporates fully integrated closed-loop manufacturing systems supported by 21 CFR-compliant equipment and Quality by Design (QbD) principles.

It also features advanced gelatin processing systems with precision-controlled agitation and jacketed vessels for improved formulation consistency, along with real-time online process monitoring to enhance batch-to-batch reproducibility and product quality.

Nirav K Mehta, Founder, Managing Director and CEO of Corona Remedies, stated that women’s healthcare remains one of the fastest-evolving segments of modern medicine, requiring strong scientific innovation backed by world-class manufacturing capabilities.

He said the new facility reflects the company’s commitment to globally benchmarked quality and strengthening India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem.
