Gold prices rise in futures trade on spot demand

Gold prices on Friday rose by ₹689 to ₹1,52,950 per 10 grams in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions on a firm spot demand.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for August delivery traded higher by ₹689, or 0.45 per cent, at ₹1,52,950 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 1,206 lots.

Fresh positions built up by participants led to a rise in gold prices, analysts said.

Globally, gold futures rose 0.91 per cent to $4,728.57 per ounce in New York.
